Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic Medicine emphasizes patient education and self-care. Naturopathic Doctors are experts in the prevention, diagnosis, management, and treatment of both acute and chronic health conditions. Naturopathic Medicine can be used in conjunction with conventional therapies to support the body’s healing process.
As licensed naturopathic doctors (ND) we attend four-year, post-graduate, accredited naturopathic medical schools. The institutions in the United States are recognized by the Federal Department of Education. The training consists of comprehensive study of the conventional medical sciences, including anatomy, physiology, pathology, microbiology, immunology, clinical and physical diagnosis, laboratory diagnosis, cardiology, gastroenterology, gynecology, etc, as well as detailed study of a wide variety of natural therapies.
In addition to a standard medical curriculum, the naturopathic doctor is required to complete four years of training in clinical nutrition, homeopathic medicine, botanical medicine, naturopathic philosophy, psychology, and counseling.
Upon graduating, NDs must sit for and pass a national level board examination called NPLEX for licensure.
